The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is the global standard for promoting open and accountable governance of oil, gas, and mineral resources. In each of the 54 implementing countries, the EITI is supported by a coalition composed of the government, companies, and civil society, chaired by the Champion. It is guided by the conviction that a country’s natural resources belong to its citizens, and it seeks to strengthen government systems and inform public debate.

The implementation of the EITI relies on two main mechanisms : the development of a multi-stakeholder platform and the annual publication of the payments made by extractive companies to the State, alongside the revenues actually received by the government through the various EITI Reports.

These reports make publicly available relevant, regular, and reliable data collected at the source, supported by contextual information about the country’s sector, including :

  • Licenses (mining permits) and contracts (oil contracts),
  • Production and export data,
  • Fiscal and non-fiscal revenues recorded by the tax and customs administration as well as the mining administration,
  • Various transfers within decentralized local authorities,
  • Social and environmental expenditures by extractive companies…
